Have received this information from alumna Helen Robinson regarding this year’s BSMGP lecture series, which she has asked me to post on the blog. Looks like a very interesting set of events.
The 2013 lecture programme run by the British Society of Master Glass Painters Trust has now been published. Lectures are open to all and held at the Art Workers Guild in Queen Square, London WC1 just a stone’s throw from the old CSM site and Cochrane Gallery. It would be great if you could join us.
Lectures – 6.15 for 6.45pm:
8 March: Alan Brooks on ‘Francis Spear, a Student of Art and Symbolism’,
14 June: Amber Hiscott talking about her own contemporary practice, ‘Paper, Paint, Glass…………’
11 October: Michael Peover and Elise Learner on ‘The renewal of the painted glass at Strawberry Hill’.
8 May we will be hosting a Discussion Day aimed particularly at students and working artists when we will meet the new owners of English Antique glass (EAG) and three practising artists who will sing the praises of EAG’s wonderful and unique mouth blown glass. This is now the only company which survives making English mouth blown sheet glass so we hope you will come along to support them.
